On Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 5:00 PM at 110 East Main Street, Suite 220 in Cumming, the board will hold a public hearing on extending its moratorium on sketch plats and land disturbance permits, will discuss a possible new moratorium and a clinic zoning change, and has several zoning cases on the agenda.
Crews began replacing the boardwalk at the Fowler Park Trailhead on Oct. 26, and the county expects the trailhead to stay closed through the end of the year.
The county rezoned the 7.93-acre site for industrial use a year ago. The building permit was issued Oct. 2, and the leasing listing says the space will be ready Feb. 1, 2027.
It covers residential land zoned before April 13, 2017. The Board of Commissioners has extended it twice, and as of Oct. 22 the county had not posted an agenda for its Nov. 5 meeting.
About 5,700 registered voters have a new Election Day polling place this year, the county estimates. Advance voting is open through Oct. 30.
On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM at 110 East Main Street in Cumming, the board will consider Old Atlanta Road widening contracts, three possible board-generated rezonings and a Planning Commission recommendation on zoning buffers.

Registration is required and every slot is taken. County recycling centers take paint, batteries, electronics and motor oil, some for a fee.
The rehabilitation of the popular Sawnee Mountain Preserve trail beginning at Bettis Tribble Gap Road will provide a more accessible and sustainable path to the Indian Seats. Access to the Indian Seats will remain open throughout the project.
