CUMMING, Ga. — Chick-fil-A Bethelview & Castleberry is scheduled to open Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, at 6 a.m. at 5580 Wren St., at Bethelview and Castleberry roads, the company said in a Sept. 24 announcement.
The restaurant will be open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will offer dine-in, drive-thru, mobile pickup, third-party delivery and Mobile Thru service. It is expected to create about 110 jobs.
Kristie Bergstrom, who also operates Chick-fil-A Larry Mulkey Memorial Road, is the restaurant's Owner-Operator. On opening day, anyone dressed in cow spots can receive one free entrée or kid's meal, one per person while supplies last, with no purchase necessary, according to the company. Chick-fil-A, Inc. also is giving $25,000 to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
The county approved the restaurant's as-built plan, AS260046, on Sept. 24, one week before the opening. The plan was marked not passed on July 14, Sept. 3 and Sept. 21 before passing Sept. 23. The county's business-location verification, BLV261856, was completed Sept. 15. The records do not say what revisions were requested.
What else is going in
The four addresses along the development's new internal road, Wren Street, run from the Chick-fil-A toward the Bethelview/Castleberry corner as 5580, 5550, 5520 and 5470. County records and company announcements identify three other businesses in that line.
7 Brew Coffee is planned for 5550 Wren St. The county approved its site development plan in March and approved wall signs in July. A monument-sign application was sent back for revisions Sept. 4, and a retaining-wall permit for an accessibility ramp to the Bethelview sidewalk is in revision review. A broker's sale listing describes the building as a 510-square-foot drive-thru stand and says the tenant's 15-year ground lease was set to begin Sept. 1. 7 Brew has not announced an opening date.
Maepole is planned for 5520 Wren St. The company's Cumming page says it will open in fall 2026, with a full dining room, outdoor patio and pickup lane for order-ahead meals. The company is hiring an opening team. QSR Magazine reported that the location is expected to open in late 2026 and will be Maepole's first with a drive-thru pickup lane and its fourth in Georgia.
The county's permit record for a Maepole monument sign, filed May 6, was sent back for revisions, a routine permit step; the record does not say what was asked for.
Fifth Third Bank is planned for 5470 Wren St. The county issued a building permit for a new freestanding branch facility on May 19, 2026. Sign permits cover wall signs facing Bethelview Road and Castleberry Road and a monument sign. The site development plan remains in review. No opening date has been announced.
A larger project still taking shape
Abernathy Development calls the project Southard Exchange. Its project page places it at 5509 Bethelview Road at Castleberry Road on approximately 16.94 acres and says the site will feature eight outparcel buildings. The developer's brochure cites traffic counts of 31,700 vehicles a day on Bethelview Road and 13,500 on Castleberry Road, but it does not provide a year or source for those figures.
The brochure's site plan shows nine parcels, which does not match the project page's reference to eight outparcel buildings. The remaining parcels and their future tenants are not clear from the records reviewed for this article.
