Forsyth County plans tennis and pickleball court improvements at three parks

Four new tennis courts are planned at Sawnee Mountain Park, while courts at Matt Community Park and Coal Mountain Park are scheduled for resurfacing.

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Forsyth County is planning a series of tennis and pickleball court improvements at three parks, according to comments from County Manager David McKee and Communications Director Russell Brown in a county government video.

The work includes a larger rebuild at Sawnee Mountain Park and resurfacing projects at Matt Community Park and Coal Mountain Park. The officials said residents should expect some disruption while the courts are being worked on.

Sawnee Mountain Park

The county plans to install four new tennis courts at Sawnee Mountain Park, 3995 Watson Road in Cumming. The park currently lists four tennis courts among its amenities and offers court rentals.

McKee and Brown described the projects as part of the county’s effort to maintain recreational facilities and make long-term use of maintenance dollars. They also distinguished the Sawnee Mountain work as a complete rebuild rather than a simple resurfacing.

What is not yet clear: The discussion did not provide construction start dates, completion dates, court-closure schedules, or project costs. Forsyth Daily Brief will update this item when the county publishes those details.
